About the Project

This project is about women around the world who were all born on the same day but in different countries. The aim of the project is to look at similarities and differences in their lives, and to consider the ways in which they have been shaped by the opportunities and experiences within their different countries and cultural groups.

The research aims are:

1. to describe the life opportunities and experiences of women born on 12 June 1951 in their different countries and cultures
2. to illustrate both similarities and differences in the lives of these women who were born on the same day, but in different parts of the world
3. to consider the influences on their lives of historical events, fortuitous and non-fortuitous life events
4. to explore whether these women share similarities in individual characteristics, responses to various life events, thoughts about the meaning of life, attitudes towards ageing

The overall goal of the project is to demonstrate the ways in which women are connected and, in documenting aspects of their lives, to pass on this message of global connectedness.
